When it comes to ores with any unique properties other than giving us minerals, there really Isn't that many. Coal just gives us coal and diamonds give us diamond. It would be rather interesting If Sulfur, a greenish yellowish ore, could be featured in the caves.
when any mob is nearby a raw ore of sulfur or around at least a single sulfur item entity, they will receive Nausea, and any mobs that are nearby will immediately attempt to run away from it. with 2 Iron and a single piece of Nausea, the player could craft Repellent, which can be used to repel Insects and undead mobs in a 7 block radius for one minute (although creepers and wardens will not be affected, as if they don't have any actual sense of smell), this repellent has 35 uses, but cannot be used again until the existing repellent wears off.
In addition to this, Sulfur could also be used to craft Gunpowder, given that the player has a single piece of charcoal and a single piece of sulfur, making TNT a bit more easier to obtain underground.
