Spruce trapdoors are extremely versatile in adding texture, detail, shape, and depth to a build. Its thickness works much nicer than slabs for doing detail work, and when mixed with stairs and slabs it helps achieve nicer curves at player scale. This only works because it blends in so well with spruce planks and it has no transparent sections. However, because no other trapdoor has these properties (dark oak stands out too much by being too smooth and glossy), the building palette if you want to use these techniques is limited to just spruce. It would be awesome to have the option to craft trapdoors with the same texture as spruce but with other wood colors.
Similarly, oak trapdoors look nice as planter boxes when placed around dirt, and birch trapdoors make good cabinet doors. It would be great to expand the color palette options for these tricks as well.
To implement, the existing recipes could remain the same, just put whatever wood plank color you want in the crafting grid. The resulting item names could be distinguished by style and wood type together, for example Solid Oak Trapdoor, Windowed Spruce Trapdoor, Papered Acacia Trapdoor, etc.
