In the real world we find many different lithologies from across the world and in many settings. We have granite, diorite and andesite that have kind of just been “thrown in” for lack of a nicer way of putting it. However, one way to improve these igneous rocks is to add natural generation that is concurrent with real world events, such as cooling of magma, whether it be below or above ground, can create a different type of end product as well as magma chemistry, alas the first half of the Geology update, Igneous. Which should include things like volcanoes (and subduction zones - however this would be fairly difficult to implement in minecraft I believe) and mid ocean ridges, while in the real world these work in tandem to create new material, basalt, andesite and the like while dead or dormant volcanoes can be sources for intrusive igneous rocks, your granites etc. The second half of the update should be an update towards terrestrial terrain generation, an update to Sedimentary processes, whether it be alluvial or fluvial, which would improve the depth of generation in places like deserts and swamps alike, this could also add in places like deltas and mangroves where resources such as peat and clau can be found as well as their lithified counterparts, coal and slates. It’s a rather large step towards the real world and thus highly unlikely, but it would be rather interesting to see flowing rivers, tides and wind patterns having an impact on the overworld
