Winds that affect only ranged weapons and movement.
[The existing suggestions are way too complex. I recognize that display effects of winds would be too programming-intensive. So this is a simple, workable inclusion for wind.]
Winds would have a direction and strength that acts upon the character or NPC and their ranged weapon attacks. Arrows, tridents and potions could be sent off-target. An area would experience a wind vector that would play a sound at a volume relative to the strength of the wind. Grassy Plains and mountain biomes would have a relatively high natural wind strength. Storms would add to the existing wind strength. Winds would be associated with weather movements like clouds, snow and storms and even unseen "clear" skies.
The wind strength can assist or impede character or ranged weapon movement in the direction the wind moves. The wind only activates on a character, NPC or ranged weapon, so there is no need for it to be active in every air block.
This could call for a menu-held wind detector similar to the clock and direction guage made from redstone and copper.
