1.18 surface terrain
As of writing, the latest snapshot for 1.18 is experimental 3. Overall I believe that the terrain is too hilly. Most of the biomes that i have seen in this snapshot, even some plains, have very abrupt and common height changes. I don't think that all biomes should be hilly because it simply leaves no space for building and it makes it very hard to move around, and it just feels like everything is too big.
From my experience biome diversity has increased. I found way more jungles, badlands, dark oak forests, deserts and snowy biomes. I believe this is a good change.
I found that more of the worlds surface is ocean, which i don't like because there is less land and the individual continents are sometimes quite small, which makes the big hills look very weird and like they don't belong there
And finally, microbiomes. I think they are a good idea but i don't think they work as intended. The microbiomes that I saw were very weird: a cold ocean in the middle of a tundra, a desert next to a forest and a plains etc. I think that microbiomes should only happen with certain predefined combinations because there are few combinations that would blend very well.
I hope this feedback helps you!
