Jungles should have consistent rain during the day and clear skies during the night(could be cloudy). It would be another reason players would look for jungles and settle there.
To increase ambiance maybe rain should drip through leaves to have the rainforest feel. At night there are crickets and cicadas to produce sounds(implemented the same way termites would). Possibly add several layers of the jungle(canopy, shrub layer, forest floor) and taller trees to give a better jungle vibe. In the trees there should be monkeys or natives(use Mowzie's Barakoa from Mowzie's Mobs for reference ) in villages(similar to the Ewok village from star wars).
There could be variations in temples that look different and provide different challenges. One example could be a Mayan-style temple that has an exclusive loot chamber of native spawners. The loot could contain a golden charm that will allow the player the ability to befriend the natives and trade with them.
Monkeys would be paired up with a new tree type(banana) and be a passive mob that lives in groups. Monkeys can be given a banana and they will lead players to structures. Once in a while, they will lead the player to an exclusive temple can be a monkey shrine or themed temple(one per world). The temple can be guarded by aggressive natives and once the player reclaims the temple for monkeys the monkeys will occupy the temple and bestow to the player the Monkey King Staff and get a new achievement the Monkey King.
