When playing Minecraft on my phone or tablet, pressing the menu button while playing (either by pressing the back button or pressing the "pause" icon on top of the screen) brings up a menu, but you can still see the mobs moving and the day passing in the background, and you can still get attacked and killed by hostile mobs while the menu is up, but I'm not seeing any other way to pause the game without exiting the world/app completely, which is quite tedious.
Minimizing the app doesn't help either. If I minimize the app and return to it, I'll suddenly appear in a void with the sky moving at high speed until eventually reloading my spot (Most of the time. Other times, if it's minimized for long enough, I'll just stay in the void looking at the sky speeding by forever). I assume this is the game trying to "make up" for all the time passed while it was in the background, instead of truly pausing it. If I was out in the open, I can get attacked by an invisible mob and killed while in the void.
Mojang, please add the pause function so it works just like the other versions. If you have absolutely no intention of adding this feature, at least be honest and say why. Would it be better if I posted this in the bug tracker instead? Because this definitely feels like a bug, but I'm not sure.
