In it's current state when Ray Tracing is activated in game, the sun's azimuth is at a perfect axis (0°). This matches the vanilla location of the sun, but leads to shadows only being directly under objects at noon and limits the functionality it could potentially have in creative applications. Implementing the ability to change the sun azimuth through a PBR resource pack or through video settings would heavily improve the visual quality of Ray Traced lighting in general, would allow for further and more effective use of the sun and volumetric lighting to highlight points of interest, and would enable players to create more impressive visual presentations in their builds.
A possible way to implement this through resource packs would be through adding it as a parameter in the biomes_client.json file in an "environment" section of some sort. This would also open up the possibility for other environment variables to be placed in the section as well in the future.
Another solution could be implementing a Sun Azimuth slider that becomes accessible when Ray Tracing is turned on. This would allow every player to specifically change the angle of the sun to their personal preference, and would make it an easily accessible option.
