Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Unenchanted item should have no prior work penalty or usable in grindstone

Suppose i want to repair my unenchanted elytra in anvil , i keep repairing it until it is "Too Expensive!" due to prior work penalty , and then i realize i can't use my elytra in grindstone to reset prior work penalty because it is unenchanted , and so the broken elytra can no longer be repaired and might as well throw it away because it is useless now. Two solution to this problem : either make unenchanted item work in grindstone or make unenchanted item always have zero prior work penalty in anvil.

    Combining elytra in a crafting grid doesn't solve the problem of elytra use being a finite resource without mending, you'll lose an elytra each time you do it.

    I agree that just repairing an item (without adding enchantments) should not increase the prior work penalty. The original point of the penalty was to make it so you can't use the same powerful weapons/armor forever, but the introduction of the mending enchantment entirely nullified this anyway. This change would make mending less of a requirement as repairing would be a much more viable alternative
