When a minecraft mob dies, it falls on its left side all the time for all types of mobs. This could be improved by having quadrupedal mobs sometimes fall on their right side and letting bipedal mobs (including players) fall in any direction depending on how they die, so attacking bipedal mobs from the back causing them to often fall on their stomach and attacking them from the front causes them to often fall on their back. The type of weapon could affect what direction they fall as well: since swords have a "sweeping strike" it causes bipedal mobs to fall on their side more often while an axe uses a "cleaving strike" so it would cause bipedal mobs to fall backwards more often.
