    YES! We need a lighting engine that will also support colored lights.

    Agreed. The lighting engine needs rewritten to fully utilize shaders and the GPU. They cannot currently do colored lighting because the current engine is too slow. The solution is not to abandon colored lighting, but to just rewrite the freaking lighting engine already! This would also solve the performance issues with anything that lights up (like Redstone).

    Like, lighting is one of the laggiest things in the game, and they still haven't rewritten the lighting to use the GPU after 15 years. GPUs are there for a reason, use them!

    Not only that, but this is just bad management. Focus on the things that will impact the game the most. If most of your lag is coming from lighting, then you should have been focusing on that 5 years ago already. If you have to move someone from the Bedrock team to the Java team just for the lighting engine rewrite, then do that.
