Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Winches

Winches would be crafted with 1 chain, 1 lever, 3 iron, and 4 stone and what it would do is you could place it on a wall or a ceiling and it's chain would extend downwards it would act like a piston except it could extend for up to 64 blocks how you control how much it extends by is you put in up to a stack of chains inside of the winch and it will extend one block down for every chain it has inside of it where it connects it will grab everything in a 3x5b lock area and it will only grab the first layer unless you set it to vertical mode instead of horizontal mode in horizontal mode it will grab 3x5 blocks on the horizontal plane (also if you placed blocks on top of it it could trim off how many blocks wide it would pull up because it also has to pull up the weight of the blocks on top of the platform) but in vertical mode it will grab the 3 blocks on the lair directly underneath of it and then the 5 blocks underneath this would be helpful to make platforms that would raise and lower players, mobs, and other blocks or to make actual working Gates if someone was building a castle or something of the sort that needed a gate.     I like the idea, but I feel that one would have more control in the size of the affected area by using connected winches.  Winches placed adjacent to one another would act as a single mechanism.  They would all have to be placed facing the same direction, and would only extend as long as the one with the least amount of chains.  It could have a multiposition switch like a redstone repeater to determine how many blocks deep it pulls or pushes.  That way it could pull/push a different number of blocks for each winch in the array.
