Hear me out, ok? I've spent over a week thinking this up.
When the End gets updated, it would be cool to have another type of 'trading' like the Nether and the Overworld has. So, I have thought and thought and thought and finally come up with this suggestion.
Scattered around the End you can find Transformation Altars. These are composed of an altar in the center with four Offering Bowls around it. Then a circle of obsidian pillars around the whole thing.
How you use it: Put four items, one in each bowl. (The bowls are also a new way of displaying items. Could be cool) If the items are rare and valuable enough, you get a positive transformation. If they're too common, you get a negative transformation.
Then you throw the item on the altar. Lightning strikes, and the tool is transformed.
A positive transformation can increase the tier of the tool, give a durability boost, or add an enchantment. These enchantments can be HIGHER LEVELS than is usually allowed by an enchantment table, which makes transformation more valuable.
A negative transformation can downgrade your tool, bring down the durability, or even destroy the tool, so you have to be careful.
Maybe the items you use in the offering bowls can affect the transformation? Obsidian can increase durability, lapis affects enchantments? Maybe?
Of course, there is always a random chance to flip the transformation, good to bad or bad to good. To add a need for caution.
