There's one issue I find with the new "fortunable" ores in the overworld - I no longer have any reason to go to the nether for gold. It's a shame, as that was a big feature associated with the Nether Update.
If I wanted gold, the nether was the ideal place. But now, I can horde all the gold my heart desires without even blinking at my nether portal. I propose a simple change, because I think the nether deserves to hold the title of gold paradise. All gold ore blocks mined in the overworld should now behave the same way the Nether behaves with gold currently - players can still benefit from the fortune enchantment in the overworld, but gold ore blocks there will drop gold nuggets.
Likewise, mining in the nether now guarantees the current raw gold drops found in the overworld. This would obviously entail a bit of tampering with the amount of patches of Nether gold ore, as the current spawn rate combined with the switch of gold acquisition would be OP. Just lower the frequency that gold ore can be found in the Nether. This way, the consistency of the Nether's importance with gold mining won't change by the time the 1.18 update drops.
Otherwise, RIP Nether gold mining.
