I absolutely adore the new mountain generation, but I do feel as though it could use a bit more variety. It can feel strange having snowy mountains right next to a desert or jungle biome, so maybe add a few variants for mountain biomes! Here are some examples:
Dry Mountains
This variant would spawn near deserts and savannas, and would look a lot like the normal mountains, but would not have any snow on them. They would instead have a mixture of stone, coarse dirt, and gravel. This would be a great place to get gravel now that the gravelly mountains biome has been replaced.
Lush Mountains
This variant would spawn near jungles, forests, and oceans and feature many trees, grass, moss, and flowers. It would also not have snow, and would not be as tall as normal mountains.
Rugged Mountains
Since the normal mountains are mostly smooth and flat, this variant would feature very spiky, crag-like mountains. It would be an alternative to the snowy slopes biome and would have snow but not as much powder snow.
Steep Mountains
This would be a fairly rare variant of mountains that would feature sheer cliffs and overhangs instead of the normal gradual inclines
Deepslate Mountains
This would be an extremely rare variant of mountains that would have some deepslate mixed in with stone. It would also have more lava pools than any other biome, making it a sort of volcanic biome. Perhaps there could even be a rare chance of a volcano formation inside the biome.
