I like the idea of wandering along at night and finding the loot left behind on the ground by old travelers, maybe if you are in a biome like a desert or an empty cave, somewhere that it would make sense for someone to die, you will find some items on the ground belong to long dead ancient players/explorers/travelers, this would add more too a lure and history side of minecraft, maybe it could be what explorers had collected on their travels like ceramic shards, it could even be biome dependent, if it is in a badlands biome they might have a few golden nuggets with them, if they died near powdered snow on a mountain they might have an emerald, you could even find nether quartz in snall islands surrounded by lava in the nether from stranded travelers; this would not be too valuable maybe things like copper or they have something like curse of binding, but it would be interesting, if you had died and your stuff despawned, maybe you could find it had blown away for you to find later on your travels, maybe a few in-game days later so it is not too common, when you are least expecting it.
