The Spawn behavior of slimes in the so called 'Slime Chunks' is a mechanic that does in my opinion no more fit into the game when the 1.18 gets released as it could become an issue in large caves. Furthermore are they very annoying if you want to build something below the height 40 because they use to spawn on mass. This would mean that building underground would often need spawnproofing which really decreases the possibilities for designs and building. This made me think that this spawn behavior needs some reworking: I would rather make the slime part of biome specific spawns (other than swamps) than having them randomely parted in slime chunks all over the world. The problem could also be solved if they would only spawn at a certain light level instead of the current regardless spawning.
The Slime spawning as it is in the swamp could stay as it would in my opinion still fit.
