Having to visually scour the ceilings of large caves for ores is not fun, and boring. Once you find the ores you have to bridge up, and cower in fear of skeletons. This encourages bad gameplay of avoiding mobs and repeatedly bridging.
I suggest that Diamond ores should have a lower spawnrate when exposed to air below, resulting in fewer ceiling diamonds. In order to make up for this, diamond ore should have a slightly increased spawnrate when exposed to air on the side or tops, resulting in more wall-diamonds and ground diamonds.
This would encourage players to enjoy more interesting gameplay, and fight mobs instead of just repeatedly bridging.
