Revisiting Minecarts

The minecarts in minecraft are extremely weird. They are made out of outdated, half scrapped code. There first function was as a chest. When you put items in the minecraft, this brownish layer would rise, showing how full the cart is. Even a full decade after minecarts were change to be vehicles, thet brownish layer can still be found in the minecart in spectator mode.

I think recoding minecarts from the ground up would work best. This could also allow the addition of linked minecarts, like a train. You could also have faster minecarts based on the material. I think a lot can be done with minecarts, even 2 person carts, maybe putting a chest in one seat could be so useful.
