Most people know about the 4 protection enchantments and many people choose normal protection 4 for their armor as it is considered the best for every combat scenario and not just good for only one.
With 2 exceptions.
Those being potion effects and added enchantment damage
while according to many sources it does reduce the damage from those it doesn't do in a majorly noticeable way for potions and doesn't directly reduce the damage from enchantments but reduces total attack damage instead.
before going any further prot stands for protection
so why not make some the potion prot would lessen negative potions to be (lv of potion/lv of prot)*duration of effect and reduce the damage of negative effects by (lv of prot+2/potion lv) if max level potion and prot it would reduce by 3 hearts
the enchantment prot could either have a chance to nullify the enchantment (would have to be run for each enchantment indidualy) being (prot lv-max lv of enchant/lv of enchant)% or reduce the enchantments damage increase by (lv of prot+2/lv of enchant) hearts
this isnt super good by its self so it can be on armor with any other prot as long as the other prot and this prot dont have a total level of over 5 so you could have prot 4 enchantment prot 1 or something like that as the levels combined are equal to 5 (which is not over 5) but not pro 4 enchantment prot 2 as the levels combined are more than 5
