Axolotl shouldn't despond so easily

Axolotls shouldn't despawn so easily like I had three axolotls all three of them had leashes and name tags and then with minutes not even going far enough for it to despawn they despawned

    If when you catch one you put it in the water and pick it back up before actualy releasing them in your pond(or watever) that should keep them from respawning. For me it worked so far. I’m not sure if it works standard, but its worth the try I would say.

    I am also having this problem 
    axolotls despawning even when they have been put in a bucket and named tagged

    despawning problem has happened multiple times

     

    leaded axolotls have been fine
