I recently saw that the dreams idea was put under review, so I came up with the idea of sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis can only happen in extreme darkness and is a very rare occurrence, in sleep paralysis you will wake up but it will still be nighttime, you won’t be able to get out of bed unless it has been 30 - 60 seconds or a mob/player damages you, you will get hallucinations of mobs such as a creeper or any other mob, if you are in a multiplayer world you will even be able to players who have played on you world walking around in your base (this will still be a hallucination). Sleep paralysis would have a higher chance of occurring in the deep dark/below y=0. Their should be an option to turn sleep paralysis off in gamerules, after sleep paralysis you will have 3 seconds of nausea and blindness and 1-2 phantom have a 0.8% chance of spawning.
