Hello! Since a lot of people have been concerned about the Archaeology feature and that its been postponed for understandable reasons: I have thought of an idea on how to make the Archaeology feature work and fit in Minecraft.
The excavation sites (That was shown in the 1.17 reveal trailer) are there for a reason, apart from finding a brush to brush off dirt, sand and gravel to get items: Its a place where if you go a bit deep down underground, you'll find a rare structure that contain valuable stuff.
The structures that you can find under the excavation sites are random, You can find already existing structures like a Dungeon, Amethyst Geode, Mine shaft, Stronghold.
But if you're lucky... You can find new structures! a small or a big cave temple that has traps to look out for. They can contain a treasure chest that have good items in them! Items that cant be found elsewhere or are too hard to find.
When it comes to the brush that can be used to brush off dirt, sand and gravel as mentioned before: It shouldn't be used for getting diamond blocks or anything like that. (if so then whats the point of going out mining?) It should be used to get stuff like mob heads and pieces that are used for customizing big clay pots that was shown in the reveal trailer. There could be like a 1% chance to get an ore block or rare items.
So there you go! An idea for how to make The Archaeology Feature fit in the game!
I hope this idea will help out or at least will be inspired!
