Description:
Ice biomes currently feel like empty wastes. I propose a "Polar Overhaul" based on the actual biology of the Antarctic Peninsula, introducing the only two flowering plants that grow there and iconic wildlife.
1. Real Antarctic Flora:
Antarctic Hair Grass (Deschampsia antarctica): Extremely frost-resistant green tufts. In reality, it thrives near penguin colonies using natural nutrients. In-game, it should be a rare green plant found on ice-free coastal patches.
Antarctic Pearlwort (Colobanthus quitensis): Low, cushion-like plants with tiny yellowish flowers. They grow in rocky cracks, adding realistic texture to vertical cliffs.
Lichens & Mosses: Over 300 species of colorful lichens that can survive even on inland mountain peaks.
2. Iconic Polar Wildlife:
Emperor Penguins: Social mobs that huddle for warmth. They lead players to fishing spots and help fertilize the soil for Hair Grass.
Leopard Seals: Territorial predators on floating ice. They hunt fish but can be distracted by Salmon, making sea navigation tactical.
Crabeater Seals: Passive mobs that rest on ice floes, making the frozen shores feel alive.
3. Environment:
Hummocks: Jagged ice formations caused by shifting tides.
Thin Ice: Transparent ice that breaks under sudden movement, requiring careful navigation.
Summary: This update adds scientific realism to frozen biomes, introducing unique plants and creating a functional ecosystem around them.
