The current Plains biome is too empty. I propose a realistic Steppe biome featuring a dynamic ecosystem of drought-resistant grasses, shrubs, and seasonal flowers based on real-world geography.
Unique Grasses and Grains:
Stipa (Feather Grass): Tall silvery grass that moves in waves with the wind. It adds a realistic visual and ambient sound to the biome.
Wild Rye: A hardy grain found in the Steppe. It can be cultivated into Rye to produce Dark Bread, which provides higher saturation than regular bread.
Fescue and Wheatgrass: Short dense tufts that provide a natural textured look to the landscape.
Seasonal Flowers (Ephemeroids):
Wild Tulips and Crocuses: These flowers bloom only during specific times or after rain, representing the brief and vibrant blooming periods of real steppes.
Narrow-leaved Peony: A rare deep-red decorative flower found in untouched areas of the biome.
Steppe Herbs:
Sage and Wormwood: Silvery-green plants that can be used for unique dyes or herbal brewing mechanics.
Adonis and Katran: Yellow and white wildflowers that attract bees and enrich the color palette of the world.
Steppe Shrubs:
Blackthorn and Steppe Cherry: Thorny bushes that drop tart berries. They act as natural fences, dealing minor damage to mobs that try to walk through them.
Yellow Acacia: Flowering shrubs that add vertical variety to the flat horizon.
Summary: This update transforms empty plains into a living ecosystem with unique farming options like Rye and defensive plants like Blackthorn.
