The Core Problem
Currently, the Villager Gossip system is an invisible layer of math that is exclusive to Java Edition. This creates a massive gameplay gap for Bedrock players, especially regarding trading prices and Iron Golem spawning. Furthermore, on both versions, the system is "silent"—players have no in-game way to see why a villager is raising or lowering their prices without external mods.
Proposed Solution
1. Bring the Gossip System to Bedrock: Standardize the "Major/Minor Positive/Negative" gossip types across all platforms so trading and village mechanics feel consistent.
2. Visual Interaction Cues: Instead of text (which breaks the "silent" villager lore), add thought bubbles or icons above villagers when they gossip at a gathering point.
• Green Up-Arrow/Player Icon: The villager is praising the player (lowering prices).
• Red Down-Arrow/Player Icon: The villager is complaining about the player (raising prices).
• Zombie Icon: They are sharing gossip about a recent threat.
3. The "Village Ledger": Allow players to use a Lectern to see a "Town Reputation" page. It doesn't need to show raw numbers, but could use descriptive text like "The villagers feel safe," or "The locals are wary of a recent visitor."
Why this helps
This makes the world feel alive and reactive. It removes the "hidden math" barrier and lets players engage with the village mechanics naturally through observation rather than spreadsheets.
