I’ve always loved Minecraft for its mining, building, and farming elements. Farming especially has so much potential. I used to play with Pam’s HarvestCraft back in 1.7.10, and I loved being able to grow a wide variety of crops, fruit trees, and create all sorts of different foods. It made farming feel rewarding, creative, and alive.
Coming back to vanilla Minecraft, farming feels a bit limited and slow in comparison. There aren’t many crop varieties, and food options feel repetitive after a while. Expanding the farming and cooking systems could add so much depth without changing the core feel of the game it just make the players run home.
A Harvest Update could introduce:
-
New crops (corn, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, etc.)
-
Fruit trees (apple varieties, peaches, lemons, mangoes)
-
More cooking recipes with layered crafting (soups, sandwiches, more pies and cakes)
-
Improved farming mechanics (watering systems, weeds, plants dying, getting exp,)
-
Decorative garden blocks (planters, trellises, herb patches)
This wouldn’t take away from Minecraft’s simplicity it would enhance an already loved system and give builders, survival players,
If there were ever a way to collaborate with mods like Pam’s HarvestCraft or take inspiration from them, I think the community would absolutely love it. Farming could feel just as deep and exciting as mining or combat.
Minecraft thrives on creativity and expanding the garden would let players grow even more of it
