I find that rarer biomes are really cool to find, but there isn't really much to do in these regions and any uses you can find in them tend to be things you can do just as well in other, much easier to find, biomes. I think the Badlands is an example of this.
My own ideas involved:
- For the Eroded Badlands not unlike an abandoned village or underwater ruins that is populated by Husks and Parcheds. Erosion on this scale usually happens in real life due to the ocean
- Wooded Badlands, instead of having oak trees, could have a new type of tree which is dead upon arrival and upon digging in the ground, you could find any remaining saplings for the tree that when planted can grow the original type of tree this would have been - perhaps for this we could use an extinct real world tree species for this. The dark oak mineshafts could also be replaced by this wood (in this case, make other mineshafts match the wood of the biome it was found under.)
- Maybe we could have a tameable bird of prey that you could tame to assist you in battle.
