This proposal introduces a death and injury system that makes death meaningful but not frustrating. A permanent structure appears at the world’s spawn point, where the player always respawns. It is surrounded by a one‑way barrier that players can pass through but dangers cannot. Inside is a personal Recovery Chest that stores all items the player had upon death.
Each death gives the player an injury with temporary status effects depending on the cause of death, which weaken over time. If the player died with no excess damage, max health is unchanged. If there was excess damage, every two hearts of excess damage cause a temporary reduction of half a heart of max health, which returns only after the injury heals.
Villages may include a doctor who sells items that weaken injury effects and help the player recover faster.
