Vibrant Visuals is a revolutionary lighting upgrade to Minecraft. That much is inherent and obvious. However, though the concept is extraordinary, the means by which it is implemented into the game seem almost like overreach. Let me explain.
To start off, one must realize that Vibrant Visuals is fundamentally a Shaders pack. And historically, Minecraft Vanilla has been a *base* game for a reason. It is the foundation upon which modifications can be made, based on the "special interests" of the player. Adding shaders to Vanilla Minecraft, though it is an upgrade, is complex, mood-altering, and borderline confusing. Minecraft has always thrived on simplicity, and its visual atmosphere is no exception, especially when it makes certain things like water harder to see.
Secondly, as I briefly mentioned before, Vibrant Visuals radically changes the classic aura of the game. The game has been a lonely, vast survival fantasy game with creative possibilities for its entire life. With Vibrant Visuals, however, the advanced modifications make the game feel much more alive than it ought to, and than the public expects. The player should determine the energy, while the game should be a catalyst for the player.
And now, my point:
Vibrant Visuals should be a gamerule setting, able to be easily toggled on and off in the settings of a world, per world. And, importantly, Vibrant Visuals should be *off by default*, to preserve the classic and neutral feel for new and existing players.
