Description:
I would like to propose a new weapon called the Glaive. This weapon introduces a "spacing-based" combat style that rewards players for keeping their distance.
Core Mechanics:
Extended Reach: The Glaive has a reach of 4.5 blocks, allowing players to strike before enemies get too close.
The "Sweet Spot" Damage: To balance its range, the Glaive deals -1 damage compared to a Sword of the same material at close range. However, if the enemy is hit at the tip of the blade (between 3.5 to 4.5 blocks), it deals significantly higher damage.
Combat Penalty: While holding the Glaive, the player is unable to break/mine any blocks. This emphasizes its role as a dedicated combat tool.
High Attack Speed: It has a faster recovery time than an Axe but slightly slower than a Sword.
Special Abilities:
Slam Attack (Jump + Attack): Instead of a traditional Critical Hit, performing a jump attack with a Glaive creates a "Ground Slam." This produces a small shockwave that knocks back nearby enemies and inflicts Weakness for 3 seconds.
Parry (Right-Click): Holding the right-click button allows the player to parry incoming melee attacks, reducing damage taken (similar to the legacy sword-blocking mechanic).
Sweeping Edge (Bedrock Parity): On Bedrock Edition, this weapon would feature a sweeping attack to help manage multiple mobs at once.
