I'd like to see more diverse rivers. Firstly, so they don't divide biomes, but simply appear randomly.
Secondly, so rivers can intersect, so there are tributaries and outflows.
Thirdly, I'd like rivers to have different heights. So river sources could simply be located at the tops of mountains, from a lake, for example.
Also, I'd like rivers not to be destroyed and replaced by biomes, but rather to pierce through them. And if it's a mountain, then I'd like rivers to be able to flow through the mountain.
Finally, I'd like to see streams near rivers. That is, simply a block of water, but with a direction for blocks and objects to move (in 8 directions). So that a boat would flow faster downstream, and slower against it.
I think this would greatly diversify world generation. Which would be ideal for a new type of world generation.
River biomes could also be diversified. For example:
- river stream - the river itself, flowing down the mountains
- waterfall - a sharp drop in a river/stream, where fish would be more common
- river - a river biome at ocean level, dividing the biomes in half
- underground rivers - a river biome at ocean level, not dividing the biomes, but flowing underneath them
- underground streams - rivers descending below ocean level
- underground waterfalls - a sharp drop in an underground river/stream
Also, a Lake biome could be added, which would replace small ponds. It would have several types:
- Sink lake (river source)
- Entered lake
- Volcanic lakes
- Glacial lakes
