The "platform" / "multiplayer restriction" variable now also affects platforms that don’t use it via MCPE-236274

The platform restriction variable blocks multiplayer from being usable, and social engineers (including but not limited to scammers) can use that "advantage" to create a content pack that is platform-restricted, even when the player finishes doing that the they want (i.e. best case, the content pack would have "Post a comment on my add-on to unlock multiplayer" on it's name or description that actually doesn't work).

The most ideal outcome is to severely nerf the restriction so it should only yield errors telling the developers of the add-ons or mash-up pack to remove the variable itself, making all "platform restricted" content cross-platform compatible without patching.

The "platform" / "multiplayer restricted" skins in Preview version could result in players unable to enter some worlds with multiplayer disabled with that skin, which you can learn more in MCPE-239565.

Since 26.30, The "platform" / "multiplayer restricted" checks can cause players to unable to enter worlds (with multiplayer disabled) until the skin finishes loading, which affects all worlds for some players, and since some of their skins never finish loading, the "platform / multiplayer restriction" checks result in the existing worlds to be unplayable. You can learn more in MCPE-239565.
