Minecraft Java Edition should have a built-in friends list system similar to Bedrock Edition. Currently, Java players must manually share server IPs, use Realms, or rely on external apps like Discord to know when friends are online. This makes multiplayer less convenient compared to Bedrock.
Since all Java players now use Microsoft accounts, it would make sense to integrate a basic friends system that allows players to:
• Add and manage friends
• See when friends are online
• Join friends’ worlds (with permission)
• Send game invites
• View which server a friend is playing on (optional privacy settings)
This feature would make Java multiplayer more accessible, especially for new and younger players. It would also unify the experience between Java and Bedrock Editions.
Java Edition is known for flexibility and servers, but a simple optional friends system would not remove that freedom — it would only improve accessibility and convenience.
Please consider adding a friends list system to modernize Java multiplayer.
