Arrows can break leaves, pots, and glass.

If you shoot (with all your might) at leaves, pots, and glass, they break. The arrow, however, continues to fly, but slows very quickly.
 
Leaves drop sticks or leaf litter.
Flower and decorative pots drop bricks.
Glass blocks and glass panels drop shards, which can later be crafted into glass again.
 
You can also add /gamerule to disable these features individually. This can be a hindrance on maps designed for progression.

    I was about to suggest this too until I saw it had already been suggested. I think it would be interesting to see in the game.
