Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Grappling Hook & Harpoon

I suggest adding a hooked cat; it can be crafted from a crossbow, hooks, a fishing rod, an arrow, and a lead (or rope).
 
If you shoot it at any side of a block, the player will be pulled to that block. If you shoot it at the bottom of the block, the player will be pulled to the blocks, but will remain suspended underneath.
 
If you shoot an animal, the player will be pulled to it.
 
+ enchantment:
Harpoon - If you shoot a mob with it, you can recruit it.
 
 
+ /gamerule - the ability to specify the maximum rope length
