I’m requesting that Minecraft Bedrock Edition support be expanded to all Chromebook models that are capable of running it, rather than being limited by a device whitelist.
Currently, only certain Chromebook hardware configurations are allowed to install Minecraft Bedrock from the Google Play Store, even when other Chromebooks are technically capable of running it with comparable performance. This limitation prevents many Chromebook owners from accessing a version of Minecraft they’ve already purchased, despite ChromeOS having:
support for Android apps, and
sufficient graphics and CPU resources on many modern Chromebooks.
This causes confusion when users should be able to install the game but see “incompatible” in the Play Store, even on capable devices. Many users have shared experiences of working installs being blocked by this whitelist restriction, which feels arbitrary from a performance perspective.
I understand there are minimum specs listed for supported Chromebooks, but these don’t appear consistently enforced, and restricting devices means a capable Chromebook can’t run the game at all. Allowing all Chromebooks that meet performance requirements to install and run Bedrock (with proper user-controlled graphics settings) would improve accessibility and reduce frustration.
Please consider removing the whitelist restriction or providing an opt-in for compatible Chromebooks to enable Bedrock support.
Thanks! 💛
