Adding Copper as a Required Tier Between Stone and Iron

I propose a new early-game progression system that makes mining and combat more meaningful by introducing copper as a required tier and rebalancing ores and weapon damage.

  • Copper tools and armor are required to mine iron, instead of stone pickaxes.

  • Copper is slightly rarer than in the current game (~2% decrease in spawn rate).

  • This makes copper a meaningful step in early-game progression.

    • Slightly reduce spawn rates of other ores (iron, diamond, netherite) to maintain progression balance.

    • Makes each tier feel earned and encourages exploration.

      Why this improves Minecraft:

      • Makes mining and tool progression more strategic.

      • Copper becomes valuable and necessary, not optional.

      • Combat scaling feels balanced and satisfying.

      • Encourages exploration and planning instead of rushing diamond/netherite too quickly.

    Iron will also have to become slightly rarer to encourage use of copper, but still not as rare as diamond.
