I propose a new early-game progression system that makes mining and combat more meaningful by introducing copper as a required tier and rebalancing ores and weapon damage.
-
Copper tools and armor are required to mine iron, instead of stone pickaxes.
-
Copper is slightly rarer than in the current game (~2% decrease in spawn rate).
-
This makes copper a meaningful step in early-game progression.
-
Slightly reduce spawn rates of other ores (iron, diamond, netherite) to maintain progression balance.
-
Makes each tier feel earned and encourages exploration.
Why this improves Minecraft:
-
Makes mining and tool progression more strategic.
-
Copper becomes valuable and necessary, not optional.
-
Combat scaling feels balanced and satisfying.
-
Encourages exploration and planning instead of rushing diamond/netherite too quickly.
