I recently completed a legitimate Bastion Remnant run in Bedrock Edition to obtain my first Netherite Upgrade Template. The run took significant time and risk (hostile mobs, durability pressure, fire resistance management), and I only avoided a major setback because I duplicated the template before upgrading any gear.
The game does not clearly communicate that Netherite Upgrade Templates are consumed on use. A reasonable player assumption is that an upgrade template functions as a permanent unlock once obtained. If I had upgraded a single piece of gear without duplicating first, I would have been forced to repeat a dangerous Bastion run purely due to misunderstanding the system.
This feels like a design trap rather than meaningful difficulty:
• The cost of misunderstanding is extremely high
• The mechanic is not clearly explained in-game
• The punishment is repetitive rather than challenging
I believe Netherite Upgrade Templates should become permanent once acquired, This would preserve progression pacing without penalising players for reasonable assumptions.
As it stands, the system discourages engagement and creates unnecessary frustration, especially for long-term survival worlds played without cheats or Keep Inventory.
Please make Netherite Upgrade Templates a permanent unlock once found.
This feedback is based on a long-term, legit Bedrock survival world.
Thank you.
