Minecraft Feedback Proposal – “Optional Precision Cubic Building”
Description / Idea:
I propose adding an optional precision building feature that allows players to subdivide existing blocks into smaller cubes for more detailed construction.
Key points:
Keep the iconic cubic identity: All blocks remain part of the cube grid. This is not a change to Minecraft’s fundamental style, only an enhancement for creativity.
Optional precision: Players who want more control can divide blocks into smaller units, such as half-cubes or quarter-cubes, to create sloped surfaces, indentations, or more complex shapes.
Solves current limitations: Addresses frustrations like merging slabs, placing stairs in custom ways, or creating detailed decorations that the current system restricts.
Player choice: Completely optional — casual players can continue building as usual, while creative builders can enjoy unprecedented freedom.
Benefits:
Enhances creative freedom without altering core gameplay.
Maintains performance and compatibility with existing blocks and servers.
Opens the door for more detailed and realistic structures, while keeping the survival mode balanced.
Extra Notes / Example:
Could start with half-block precision, and later allow finer subdivisions or angled surfaces.
Similar in concept to Vintage Story’s detailed blocks, but fully optional and consistent with Minecraft’s cubic system.
