The recovery compass, like the compass, will display coordinates in the corner of the screen. However, in addition to the player's coordinates, it will also show the coordinates of the player's death location.
A recovery book can be crafted from a recovery compass and a writable book. This book will record the coordinates of each death (this is necessary if the player dies again while collecting items and loses their previous death location).
If the player only has a recovery book in their inventory (without a recovery compass), it will still display coordinates, as the recovery compass is used for crafting.
