Weapon and Tool Pedestals (AKA Armour stands for your tools)

TOOL DISPLAYS! WITH FUNCTIONALITY!


So here me out, we have armour stands which are great, but we don't really have a good way to display our best tools and weapons. Item frames are good and all, but a proper weapon/tool display would be amazing. So fallow my idea here.

It would be stand made with 5 smooth stone slabs in a boat configuration. This would give you a slab like item with a hole in the middle. This would have 2 basic piece of functionality. The first for the basic Pedestal would simply display an weapon or tool. 

  • Swords would be blade down.
  • Pickaxes, shovels, hoes and axes would be handle slotted in
  • and spears would be 2 blocks tall tip in.

"now that is fine and dandy" I hear you saying, "but you said functionality" and I did. If you add a tripwire hook to the pedestal in the design when a weapon or tool is inserted into the pedestal it will give a Redstone output based on the type of tool inserted. With Swords giving the highest, and hoes the lowest. 

This could lead to some fantastic medieval and secret passageway type contraptions with secret doors for nights or a museum that unlocks a hidden chest when the right tool is inserted. Making this so it is not just a display but a redstone switch too, and one that only applies when the item is in the slot. Not something to give a comparator, but instead a direct redstone signal, I'm thinking straight down.

    I like the idea as far as the functionality, however, as a display method a much easier approach would be to give armour stands their arms. They technically already have them, both in Bedrock where they're actually shown and functional, and in Java, though for some reason they're only available through the use of console commands. If Mojang just let us access those arms, this could be fulfilled through a much more lightweight means.

    As for the idea itself, I would also make the material a variable in signal strength, with Wood as the weakest, and Netherite the strongest, and maybe also enchantments as a factour too?
