Rubies and Illager Trading

Minecraft has not added a new rare overworld ore since emeralds in 2012. Adding a new rare resource would make exploration feel fresh again and give experienced players something new to hunt for. Rubies would also expand the illager side of the game and introduce darker magic to contrast with villagers and emeralds. How it could work • Ruby Ore would be extremely rare and only generate in hot biomes like deserts, savannas, and badlands, making biome-based exploration more important. • Rubies would be the “opposite” of emeralds, tied to illagers, curses, and risky magic instead of peaceful trading. • Players could trade rubies with pillagers and other illagers at pillager outposts or woodland mansions. This would be dangerous and might require wearing a pillager disguise or ruby armor to avoid immediate hostility or there would be a new illager type specifically designed for this system. • Trades could offer powerful but risky rewards, such as cursed enchantments, rare items, or secret mechanics not available through villagers. Rubies could also be used to craft a dark totem called the Totem of Banishment. Instead of fully saving the player, it would teleport them to a random location with very low health and strong negative effects. It could even protect against void damage.

    I totally Agree on that, maybe not on the way of obtaining or trading the rubies. First it would make sense because in the extra-diegetic purposes of the emerald in minecraft, they were first thought as rubies (even the ruby gem stayed in the ressources of the game for so many years before being removed) but also we learn in the Minecraft:Mobestiary that Pillagers once were villagers but got excluded for something verybad they did. Maybe the illagers, somehow vow a cult to the ruby, as emerald rules everything in villages, the illagers would wnat back the ruby to replace the emerald and they benefit from the powers of the ruby, maybe they turn emeralds into ruby with brewing stands, who knows ?

     

    Also It would make a ton of sens because, if you look closely, in Minecraft dungeons, the Arch-Illager, ruling the pillagers of this world, hold a stone on its necklace that does exactly looks like the texture of rubies in the original ruby ore texture. It cannot be redstone or any other gem that we see in minecraft, there also is one of these ruby stones in his crown among a diamond, and if you've played minecraft dungeons, you know that he has been crowned by what seems to be the high priest of his pillager community, showing that probably having the crown with the emerald and ruby in the pillager society is the maximal sign of power. Anyway, I would love to see pillagers related to this outdated stone in the actual vanilla minecraft, becaus it already is on spinoff games.
