I suggest a new armor mechanic to make combat more strategic and immersive. Armors nullify 100% of damage against regular mobs, when players receive random hits to the head, torso, legs, or feet. If no armor covers that area, the player takes full damage. The torso is most hit, followed by legs. Wearing torso armor blocks 60% of hits; torso + legs block 80%. Head and feet matter less unless aiming for 100% protection.
Against bosses, armor would only nullify 50% of the damage, keeping fights intense and requiring skill and preparation. In addition, the higher the damage received, the faster the armor wears down, making maintenance essential against stronger enemies.
All armors (copper, iron, gold, diamond, netherite) would play a metallic sound when mobs strike, showing blows hit the armor, not the body. Leather armor would sound muffled, highlighting fragility and variety. These differences enhance immersion and progression, making upgrades feel meaningful.
This system makes combat more engaging, rewards progression, and encourages strategic choices.
