I suggest adding Bilberries (known as Yafyna in some cultures) to the game. These berries would grow in colder, more elevated regions, providing a new food source for explorers and mountain climbers.
Key Features:
Habitat: They grow in Taiga, Old Growth Pine Taiga, Birch Forests, and on the slopes of Meadows and Jagged Peaks.
Growth Mechanic: Unlike sweet berry bushes (which are thorny and tall), Bilberries grow as low carpets (1/2 block high). They don't hurt the player when walking through them.
Harvesting: Right-click to gather 2-5 berries. The bush stays and regrows its fruit over time.
Special Effect: Night Vision: In real life, bilberries are great for eyesight. In Minecraft, eating a handful of Bilberries (or a special Bilberry Pie) could grant a short Night Vision I effect (for 5-10 seconds). This would be very helpful for cave explorers!
Dye: They can be crafted into Blue Dye or a new Royal Purple Dye.
Why it fits:
Currently, we only have Sweet Berries in the Taiga. Bilberries would add a much-needed variety to the forest floor and give players a natural, non-potion way to get brief night vision.
