We already have Watermelons, but Minecraft is missing the classic Yellow Melons. I suggest adding them as a new crop that behaves differently and offers new culinary options.
Key Features:
Growth Mechanic: Unlike watermelons, which take up a whole block, Yellow Melons could grow like a small plant (similar to sweet berry bushes or sea pickles). One block can hold up to 2-3 small melons.
Habitat: They can be found in Plains or Desert Oases. They need lots of light to grow.
Harvesting: When broken, they drop 1-2 Melons. You don't need to craft them into slices — you can eat them whole or cut them on a crafting table.
New Food - Fruit Salad: You can combine a Melon, an Apple, and a Sweet Berry in a bowl to create a Fruit Salad. It would restore a lot of hunger and saturation.
Trading: Villagers (Farmers) will pay more for Yellow Melons because they are rarer than watermelons.
Why it’s needed:
It adds more variety to the "Farmer" playstyle. Right now, pumpkins and watermelons are the only large crops; adding a smaller, yellow melon would make gardens look much more realistic and colorful.
