I’ve been thinking about this for a while and honestly, Minecraft Java is hitting a massive wall. Even with a beast setup like an RTX 5090 and a high-end Ryzen CPU, the game still suffers from those annoying FPS drops and stuttering because of the Java Garbage Collector. It’s 2026 and we are still struggling with render distances... it’s kind of ridiculous.
It’s time for a real technical revolution. Why not move to a Rust-based engine? Microsoft is already moving Windows kernel parts to Rust anyway, so it makes perfect sense. Rust gives us that C++ speed without the crashes, and it could actually use all 16+ cores of our CPUs for once. Imagine chunk loading and lighting finally being smooth.
Also, think about a WASM-based Modding API. Modders could use any language they want (C++, Python, Rust) and it would run at native speeds.
