Minecraft Bedrock addons are slowly but steadily improving, but creators are still very limited in what we can actually do. As an addon creator myself, there are several features I’d really like to see added to unlock more creative freedom. Here are some suggestions:
-
BIN file modification
It would be extremely useful to allow resource packs to create, modify, or rewrite.binfiles without relying on external injectors. This would enable performant, advanced visual effects that are currently only possible through messy workarounds. For example, impact frames currently require particle hacks, but with BIN file support, creators could trigger clean effects via scripting. The creative possibilities would be huge. -
Make
@minecraft/server-netstable
This module is very powerful, but it’s disappointing that it’s still locked behind the beta API after all these years. -
3D noise for custom terrain generation
Custom biomes are already stable (though still limited), so expanding world generation with 3D noise should be the next step toward truly custom terrain. -
Modify vanilla items and blocks
Unlike mobs, vanilla items and blocks can’t be modified beyond textures or crafting recipes. Creators should be able to fully change how vanilla blocks and items behave using scripting, and also modify vanilla block geometries with fully custom ones. Being able to adjust geometry feels like a basic feature and would massively expand what texture packs and addons can do
