So I suggest that shields will have new material types like wood stone(including it's variants like black stone, birch etc.) iron, copper and others. They all will have the actual shield design but the color of the "nails and lines on the shield" will have the appearance and stat based on the material, also the higher the shield tier, the less "knockback" you receive from strong enemies(like ravager). On the smithing table, you can create a custom shield design, like round shields and others! The design of a shield can change the hitbox of it, meaning that you need to put more material to make the shield bigger, but having a big shield means that you will have a slower time to prepare the shield from protecting you. Making you more vulnerable from ranged and melee attacks. Also, you can repair your shield with the materials they have. (The quantity depends of the size of the shield.) Wooden shield breaks easier since they are low tier shields. I wanna make a round copper shield to a medieval map. But the design will not only have the copper lines and Nails. You can put a material cover if you don't want the internal part of the design of the shield to be just wood, it makes it stronger on the other hand.
