I enjoy playing Superflat Survival, where the Wandering Trader becomes an essential progression tool rather than a convenience mob. However, many Superflat worlds eventually stall due to hard progression barriers (lava, nether access, brewing). At that point, players often abandon the world or turn to cheats. I’d like to suggest a hidden, long-term progression system for Wandering Traders that preserves Superflat’s puzzle-solving nature without disrupting other game modes. After a long time in a world and many completed trader trades, Wandering Traders could gain a small chance to offer one rare or “secret” trade. For example, once a world reaches 300 in-game days and a player has completed 50 Wandering Trader trades, future traders would have a low chance to offer a single rare trade. After one appears, a cooldown applies. Later rare trades would require fewer days and trades, but still meaningful effort. Rare trades could include items such as a lava bucket, obsidian, or diamond, etc. This keeps powerful resources out of early gameplay while rewarding persistence and world longevity. In standard survival, this would add excitement and long-term value to Wandering Traders without affecting early balance. The fantasy inspiration is a merchant who initially says “this is all I have” but later (after a relationship built on trust and investment) reveals something rare at a high cost. Overall, this would make Wandering Traders more useful and give players a clear long-term goal.
